How is Ovarian Cancer treated?



Ovarian cancer affects the ovaries.


Symptoms include:

  • Bloating

  • Lack of appetite

  • Feeling full quickly

  • Needing to urinate more often

  • Changes to your usual bowel habits

  • Indigestion

  • Back pain

  • Feeling more tired than usual

  • Post-menopausal bleeding

If you have recently been diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, you will under go tests to determine the grading and stage of the cancer. Your treatment plan will depend on the size of your cancer.


Generally, if your cancer is caught early on and hasn't spread outside your ovaries then you may require surgery to remove your ovaries and fallopian tubes . If the cancer has spread you may require further surgery.


You will be under the care of an Oncologist who may use chemotherapy or radiotherapy to destroy the cells.
